Mining Merchant - Dino Discovery is an indie casual adventure game that expands the core mining and shopkeeping loop with dinosaur fossil collection and display mechanics on PC.
Gameplay
Players take on the role of a merchant rebuilding a jewelry business while assisting paleontologist Professor Timothe and his robot assistant May. The day cycle involves mining skeletons buried across maps, including a new desert biome filled with dig sites, buildings, and treasures. Skeletons from dinosaurs such as T-Rex and Brachiosaurus appear in every location.
A new Fossil Table workstation introduces a timed minigame where players strike rock with a hammer to free bones without damage, then brush away dust to reveal finds. Completed fossils move to a new fourth shop floor featuring showcases. Customers visit these displays and leave donations, with payouts increasing based on skeleton completeness and showcase quality.
Fossil loot boxes drop in common, uncommon, and rare varieties. Players track progress through a compendium that logs every skull, torso, arms, legs, and tail collected. Six new quests introduce the characters and unlock the Fossil Table along with the expanded shop floor.
Game Modes
The experience supports single-player progression through the mining, crafting, and shop management cycle. Online co-op allows up to four players to share mining duties, fossil extraction, and shop operations together.
Core activities remain consistent across modes: extracting resources during the day phase and handling sales or displays at night. The dinosaur elements integrate directly into existing maps and the new desert area without altering the fundamental day-night rhythm.
Key Features and Progression
Progression centers on building a fossil collection worth displaying. Loot boxes provide bones that players assemble into full skeletons for the compendium. Showcases on the new shop floor generate ongoing donations from visitors, creating a steady income stream tied to collection quality.
The desert map adds a distinct biome with its own layout and resources, encouraging exploration beyond standard mining spots. New story elements unfold through the quests with Professor Timothe and May, focusing on the dinosaur graveyard discovery.
Is It Worth Playing?
This expansion suits players who enjoy relaxing resource gathering combined with light management and collection goals. The fossil minigame and showcase system add variety to the established mining and sales loop, while co-op support makes it accessible for groups seeking cooperative casual play.
Those already familiar with the base experience will find the dinosaur content a natural extension that rewards thorough exploration and careful assembly. Availability on PC with single-player and co-op options broadens its appeal to both solo adventurers and small teams interested in steady, low-pressure progression.
