Music by Bloke Chokem and Nasty Travis
From the onset, we both agreed that the soundtrack needed to be percussive, with a sort of Redbook audio-era electronic sound mixed with more primitive sounds and instruments. 聽The game's juxtaposition of prehistoric and modern--"Die Hard meets Jurassic Park," if you will--really leaves the soundscape open for a mixture of musical styles. 聽The goal is to keep the music interesting without relying on an abundance of long, sustained chords or filler passages, tying in with the Uwls Software "avoid any unnecessary fluff" concept of the game design. 聽

Inspiration comes from the likes of Darren Mitchell, Kevin Schilder, Frank Klepacki, and Grant Kirkhope, all masters of driving rhythms and musical creativity. In Primal Rift, tribal cadences and mechanical beats join up with growling synths, jazzy breaks, and soaring ambient sections, keeping with the game's pacing and atmosphere.

Composition and mixing was done in FL Studio with a variety of plug-ins and softsynths, and tweaking and mastering was handled in Audacity. 聽We hope you enjoy the culmination of this shared effort.
