Case Opened is a strategy, casual, and simulation game on PC that blends case opening with roguelite progression. Players build a personal weapon collection by opening cases, managing resources, and meeting appraisal targets across a structured campaign. The core loop revolves around purchasing cases, revealing weapons through a transparent spinning belt system, and strategically assembling a collection that holds value against successive benchmarks.
Gameplay
The experience centers on a transparent case-opening mechanic where players buy cases and pull a lever to receive weapons. Odds are displayed clearly with no hidden adjustments. Each stage features an appraiser who sets a target value, requiring the player to own a collection worth at least that amount one weapon at a time. Success allows keeping every weapon for the personal collection while advancing further.
Weapons number over 50 at launch and span pistols, SMGs, shotguns, rifles, snipers, and machine guns. They appear in six rarities and dozens of themes. Every individual copy receives its own wear level from Factory New to War Veteran, and each remains permanently owned. Duplicate weapon types can differ significantly in value due to unique rolls.
Skins use a seeded pattern system that draws metal, theme, handle, and scope elements from a large pool of images. This produces over 100 billion possible combinations, making identical pulls between players extremely rare. The system emphasizes ownership and long-term collection building rather than temporary use.
Game Modes
The main campaign consists of 24 stages divided across six sectors, beginning in the Scrap Vaults and ending at the Null Vault. Each stage includes its own appraiser with varying rules, such as limits on cases opened or adjusted draw quality in exchange for higher targets. Sectors conclude with boss buyers who evaluate the full collection without regard to acquisition method.
Completing the campaign unlocks Endless mode. In this mode appraisal targets continue to rise indefinitely until a player fails to meet one. The structure encourages repeated runs with different strategies while introducing variety through optional side activities.
Additional mechanics include mini-games and detours that alter run flow. Players can send weapons to shuttered vaults for bidding, place items at High Stakes for potential upgrades or losses, or sign contracts with a dealer to exchange four weapons for a random return via pager selection. These elements provide breaks from the main climb and add decision points without altering the single-player focus.
Collection Building and Customization
Players attach up to eight Adhesives to a Master Key in specific order, since sequence affects outcomes. Certain Adhesives boost common weapons or convert display shelves into strategic tools, while others combine for compounding effects. New Adhesives come from cracking Capsules.
Crowbars serve as special tools that each modify rules differently when prying open cases. Three favorite weapons can be placed on display for showcase purposes. Contracts, Capsules, and side detours further expand options for altering how individual runs develop.
All content stays within in-game Credits. Weapons opened belong permanently to the player with no real-money purchases, microtransactions, or external trading supported.
Is It Worth Playing?
Case Opened suits players who enjoy methodical collection building combined with roguelite decision-making and case-opening loops. The campaign structure provides clear progression goals across 24 stages, while Endless mode extends replayability for those seeking longer sessions. Mechanics like Adhesives, Crowbars, and detours introduce meaningful choices that differentiate runs without overwhelming complexity.
The absence of real-money elements keeps the focus on in-game strategy and ownership. Those interested in strategy and simulation genres will find the transparent odds and permanent collection system rewarding for repeated play. Casual players may appreciate the straightforward lever-pull core alongside the deeper customization layers. Overall the game delivers a self-contained experience centered on building and valuing a weapon collection through persistent effort.
