Eystrandi is a 2D, Norse - inspired Metroidvania. It is heavily inspired by the Norse time period and culture. On top of this, Eystrandi's being a Metroidvania means that it consists primarily of exploration, with a good part of it being combat as well. You will be searching for the permanent upgrades iconic to Metroidvanias, and encountering the obstacles that are iconic as well, anything from a wall that you cannot scale, to a boss you cannot beat will be useful to remember for when you can.
Unlike most modern Metroidvanias, these obstacles (mainly the bosses) can be crossed before getting the upgrade necessary, and the area behind them explored without the upgrades that are 'Necessary' to get there (excluding any other obstacles meant to block off something else, of course).
The storytelling of Eystrandi is significantly more mainstream, with the story scattered all across the island upon which the game is set, one must piece together bits found in everything from an everyman's journal, to the very artifacts that one seeks to progress.
