Create beats with a game controller in this audio production tool built for PC. Pick from 35 percussion kits and 50 music kits, assign up to five sounds per 16th note sector across 16 patterns per song, then tweak volume, pan, pitch, and shift. Add low-pass filters, chorus, echo, reverb, or flange effects per sector or pattern, randomize elements with one button, and record seamless switches to output WAV files. Real-time changes let you shift from ambient to industrial sounds, with tilting to emphasize percussion over music, ducking, and single-note polyphony for basslines. Load custom sounds and kits, favorite your favorites, or capture patterns on the fly. Gamepad users on Xbox, PlayStation, Steam Deck, or other Windows portables get quick, hands-on music sequencing fun.

Because Taiko 5 handles effects and sounds per Sector (instead of a "track") the music can range from ambient to industrial to almost everything in between. Changes can be triggered in real time as well.

Inspiration

Ever since I bought a Steam Deck I wanted to make music with it. But not with a keyboard and mouse like with a traditional modern DAW. Taiko 5 is the result of that. It works with Xbox controllers, PlayStation controllers, Steam Deck, and should work with other portable Windows based gaming systems as well. I hope you get hours of fun out of it as I had making it!
