COLONIZED is a space survival MMORPG set in a persistent universe on PC. Players begin by dropping from orbit onto an Earth-sized planet and must gather resources, craft tools and equipment, and manage survival needs while sharing the star system with others in a seamless environment without loading screens between orbit and ground.
Gameplay
The core loop centers on exploration and resource management across four planets with radii between 6,000 and 6,400 kilometers, ten moons ranging from 400 to 1,950 kilometers that feature their own atmospheres, and one 45-kilometer asteroid named Ashkar. Each world includes distinct gravity, sky, geology, and day length, with weather systems active on bodies that have air. Nights feature realistic darkness and visible stars as the sun and moons move across the sky.
Survival requires attention to cold, hunger, and thirst. Settlers gather minerals from specific deposits and process materials at workstations to produce tools, weapons, and ship parts. Alien wildlife behaves according to its own patterns and maintains nests, providing both threats and opportunities during combat with sci-fi weaponry. Players can also engage in combat against other settlers. Ships support internal movement, allowing travel from hangar to space and landings on different worlds through a 3D star map and quantum jumps. Planned systems include weather and altitude effects on survival rules, along with markets for settler trading.
The technical foundation uses Unreal Engine 5 with Nanite and Lumen for rendering. Supported NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards enable DLSS for super resolution and frame generation plus NVIDIA Reflex. Dedicated servers target up to 500 players sharing one universe, though initial testing begins with fewer slots and expands gradually. An always-online connection is required.
Game Modes
COLONIZED operates as a single shared persistent universe where all players interact on the same server instances. Faction choice between Zenith and Nadir determines allegiance for all characters created by a player, with five neutral guilds available for earning trust regardless of side. The experience blends solo survival and crafting with multiplayer elements including player-versus-player combat and cooperative opportunities in the shared star system. No separate named modes exist beyond this unified multiplayer framework that supports both individual progression and group interactions within the living world.
World and Factions
The setting takes place in Settlement Year 47 after the Flota Aura arrives in the Aurin system. The fleet splits into the Zenith faction, focused on rising at any cost, and the Nadir faction, which prioritizes putting down roots and endurance. A cold peace established by the Armisticio de Ithera shows signs of strain as both sides recruit new settlers. Two capital cities, V茅rtice and Raigambre, serve as vertical urban centers with hangars, lifts, and residents following daily routines. Character creation includes a detailed face and body editor for settlers.
Development Status
COLONIZED remains in active development with a solid technical base. All screenshots and videos originate from in-game captures. Closed alpha testing occurs through invitation-only Steam Playtests in small waves on the development server, with the first waves scheduled for winter 2026-2027. Closed beta follows in 2027 with expanded tester access and dedicated servers. Early Access release timing will be announced after the closed beta phase.
Is It Worth Playing?
COLONIZED suits players interested in large-scale space survival MMORPGs that emphasize seamless planetary exploration, crafting, resource gathering, and faction-based multiplayer interactions. The real-scale worlds and ship-based travel between bodies offer a distinctive loop for those who value persistent shared universes over smaller instances. As the game is still in pre-alpha development with testing waves planned for late 2026, interested players should monitor official announcements for invitation opportunities. Those who enjoy managing survival needs alongside combat against wildlife and other players in a faction-driven setting will find the core systems align closely with that preference once access opens.
