Dark Hours: Anomalies is a co-op horror game focused on observation and quick decision making. Players work together in a cursed train station to identify supernatural anomalies and complete a heist while avoiding an endless time loop created by the Trickster.
Gameplay
The core loop centers on thorough exploration of the train station environment. Teams search the main hall, service corridors, shops, offices, and restaurants for anything that deviates from normal reality. Anomalies appear as supernatural events that stand out from the surroundings, and players must report them accurately as haunted to progress.
After gathering information, the crew returns to the train to make a Clear or Haunted call on the situation. A single incorrect judgment resets the entire run, forcing the group to start over. This system rewards careful observation and strong communication among the 1 to 4 players. Loot collection adds a secondary objective, but it must never override the priority of spotting anomalies correctly.
Memorization plays a key role. Players learn to trust visual cues and compare current details against previous attempts. The observation-based mechanics encourage repeated runs as teams refine their ability to distinguish real elements from the supernatural ones scattered throughout the station.
Game Modes
The primary experience revolves around the anomaly detection loop in the train station. Up to four players coordinate online to explore, identify threats, and escape the loop. Crossplay support allows teams to combine with players from the related Dark Hours title for larger groups.
No additional named modes appear in the current build. The focus remains on the core co-op loop that blends exploration, reporting, and heist elements without distraction from unrelated objectives.
Key Features and Mechanics
More than 40 distinct supernatural anomalies challenge players to notice subtle changes in the environment. Every detail counts during searches, and the station layout provides multiple paths through halls, corridors, and side rooms.
Co-op tools emphasize teamwork. Additional eyes improve the chances of catching every anomaly, while the heist aspect lets players grab valuables without losing sight of the main goal. The endless loop structure creates natural replay value through procedural variation in anomaly placement and station details.
Is It Worth Playing?
Dark Hours: Anomalies suits players who enjoy co-op horror titles built around observation and communication rather than combat or complex progression systems. The Early Access version delivers a focused loop centered on the train station and anomaly spotting, with crossplay expanding group options.
Those who appreciate games that reward attention to detail and quick group decisions will find consistent engagement across multiple runs. The blend of heist tension and supernatural detection creates a distinct experience within the genre, particularly for small teams looking for repeatable sessions without heavy reliance on external systems or frequent updates.
