Deep forests, flickering firelight, eerie folk songs, and peculiar attire...
With a background of an isolated town or village, surrounded by insurmountable mountains, oceans, or deserts...
It evokes images of ancient mysterious rituals, remote rural traditions, or even dangerous summonings of evil deities.
We often use one word to describe such scenes—ritual/ceremony—as if this term alone could encapsulate these behaviors we glimpse, being curious about, yet struggle to fully articulate.
But what exactly are these “rituals”? Why do they exist?
Synopsis
DeCoDiary.vol1 起 Atheohood, also known as “祀学日记·起:爱丽斯篇” (abbreviated as “DCD”), is a mystery yuri-themed visual novel. The story unfolds from the perspective of transfer student “笫咲影” (Zi Xiaoying) as she attempts to integrate into her new community and make new friends, while gradually uncovering the secrets hidden on the island—even confronting the power of rituals. Thus, the game incorporates indigenous and folk cultures from around the world (particularly the Pacific Rim region), along with anthropological insights and reflections.
System & Scale
The game features a single route with approximately 200,000 words, divided into 6 chapters. It includes a vast number of scenes and CG assets, rich world-building, intricate plot twists, and an original “Memory System”: the player’s choices in recalling past events will influence the direction of the story.
Development Progress
The game is currently in full production. A demo_1 is planned for release around October 2025, containing the prologue chapter with roughly 10,000 words and an estimated playtime of 0.5–1 hour.
