PAPPUS is a space colony sim with cats, inspired by Rimworld and The Sims. The Felinar Concord is seeding the galaxy with feline colonists through the PAPPUS Program (Planetary Acquisition and Population Propagation Under Supervision), and YOU are the Supervision: an advanced artificial intelligence unit with a crew of volunteer cats.
BREAK GROUND
When you land on a new planet, you'll have to adapt from nothing. Start at a campfire and build up: farms, workshops, power, walls, and a research tree that climbs from primitive firelight to complex machinery. Seasons turn, crops freeze, and some of your new neighbors might pay you a friendly visit... or not so friendly.聽
You set the direction, and each cat takes up the work through their own skills and passions. The right cat in the right job is both efficient and happy.
EVERY CAT KEEPS SCORE
Each (procedurally generated) cat arrives with a personality and a history, and both are important. Cats can bond with each other through loyal friendships, nurture grudges and rivalries, fall in love, have mental breakdowns, and experience deep changes to their personalities through the planet's trials. A timid cat who lives through a hard year can emerge as a brave soul. And if a loyal cat falls in battle, that may not be the end of them...
Cats are also cats, and if you give them poor orders, they might just decide not to comply.
MEET THE LOCALS
Every planet is generated randomly: from seasons, weather, and gravity to flora, fauna, and factions. Animals have their own lifecycles--grazing, hunting, raising young, with or without an audience. Your cats meet, study, and name each species. Some can be tamed and put to work, kept for milk and fur, or even ridden into battle. Some are... best admired from a safe distance.
There are also cat-slimes: wobbly, roughly cat-shaped xeno creatures that multiply by budding off small copies of themselves. Each planet grows its own cat-slime varieties in mini and mega varieties, from adorable passive grazers to huge, aggressive predators.聽
SOMETHING WAS HERE FIRST
Expeditions beyond your colony can return back with relics, inscriptions, and questions. Piece by piece, you can assemble the planet's hidden chronicle, the story of whoever held this ground before you. Zhum,聽the mysterious psychic force that some cats can wield in combat, causes corruption to seep from certain places and changes what grows there. Zhum-attuned cats hear the planet more clearly than the rest, which is not always a good thing.
BUILD THE BIGCAT
The mission's top objective is the BIGCAT: The聽Biome-Integrated Generative Catalyst for Adaptive Terraforming. It reads the biome and turns what it learns into food, warmth, and a slow but renewable stream of resources. But powering it costs mastery. Your finest cats encode their best skills into the machine, permanently. A finished BIGCAT turns the colony into a seed, and from there, new expeditions carry the founders' bloodlines to the next world.
