Whisper of the Divine is a god-game where your main tool is your own voice. Below you, a small village goes about its day. Instead of clicking orders onto villagers, you type what you want in plain words. Kyrios, your Demi-God, carries your meaning down to the people.
Speak, and be mostly understood
You type in your own words, the way you would say it to a friend. Kyrios is an earnest go-between with a mind of their own, so what arrives is not always quite what you sent. Many of the best stories start right there.
Walk among them
Whisper from above, or step into Kyrios's body to walk the lanes and talk with people face to face. They answer as people do, busy, fond, and full of opinions, and people can say no.
Ask someone to haul stone after a long day and they might tell you their hands are blistered and say no. You can let them rest, or you can use Divine Empowerment to force them to obey. Just keep in mind, the villager will remember.
You can also lay out footings for new homes, roads, fences, and gates for villagers to raise, lift someone with the God's Hand, or spend a quiet evening fishing at the river.
A village with a will of its own
Your villagers are not pawns waiting for orders. Each is born under a fate, read from their name and birth date, and carries it through five stages of life. They stock their homes with food, date, marry, raise kids who inherit the family colors, gossip, and pray.
When they pray at the shrine, you can answer with a pillar of golden light.
The Divine Inquest
When a crime is committed, hold an inquest. Question the suspects one by one, watch for tells in what they say, and pass judgment.
When raiders come, you go down to meet them
When raiders show up, you take Kyrios onto the field in turn-based defense. You do not command an army. Neighbors who fight do so by their own choice, and your voice is still your sharpest weapon.
Ask a raider why they fight, trade insults to rattle their nerve, or offer them a home in the village if they lay down their weapons. You can also speak commands like KNEEL, or shape spells and Arcana cards in your own words. If you lose, raiders take supplies and leave rather than wiping out your village.
Your world keeps going
Hard winters come, and villagers you loved will pass. But there is no fail state and no game-over. Hard years become village history and stories told at the fire, and your world goes on for as long as you keep it.
Whisper of the Divine is currently in alpha. If you want a game that feels less like a task list and more like a place, wishlist it and follow along as the village grows.
