The RAH-66 Comanche is a multi-role reconnaissance and attack helicopter developed by Boeing and Sikorsky specifically for the U.S. Army. The design focused on combining high combat effectiveness with low visibility. To achieve this, composite materials were used in the airframe, and the fuselage was coated with a special radar-absorbent compound. All weapons were mounted internally to eliminate external protrusions. The helicopter鈥檚 airframe design and its distinctive fenestron-type tail rotor contribute to reducing its radar and infrared signatures.
The Comanche鈥檚 armament includes a nose-mounted 20mm XM301 cannon housed in a turret, AGM-114B Hellfire guided missiles and Hydra-70 rocket pods for engaging armored targets, and AIM-92 Stinger air-to-air missiles.
