Why does FUNEX have ORDER BOOK TRADING?
In real markets, you see and trade in an ORDER BOOK. Thats the real mechanism. So, trading with a VIRTUAL PRICE on screen, has no EDUCATIONAL value and is not realistic. With ORDER BOOK TRADING, you BUY and SELL in a simulated real market.
Current FUNEX game does not have other instruments than STOCKS, but still feels far more realistic than other stock market games. Because, they miss the core mechanics of the real markets. STOCK MARKETS work on ORDERS and MATCHING. So, if a game does not have ORDER MATCHING mechanism, it won't feel realistic.
Why does FUNEX have ORDER MATCHING PRICING mechanism of AI TRADERS, in stead of ALGORITHMIC PRICING mechanism?
We are gamers since the late 80's. We know the game history. And we have been playing; simulation, tycoon, strategy, business; games more than last 30 years. There has been very good stock market games. But they were all missing the same thing; REAL SIMULATION of MARKET MECHANISM. Of course, not every game is suitable for such a mechanism. But, if a TRADING GAME is being designed, it has to have a real mechanism.
FUNEX is the game what we really want to play. So, we designed a game which we also will play. Something feels real.
Designing an ALGORITHMIC PRICING mechanism, is much much easier than creating a REAL ORDER MATCHING ENGINE. In order to create a perfect mechanism, we spent very long weeks. The system in FUNEX is a REAL EXCHANGE working in your computer.
In FUNEX, every NEWS change the DIVIDENDS of; whole MARKET, whole SECTOR or single STOCK. Some AI FUNDS trade NEWS or DIVIDENDS with different strategies. Some others don't care about NEWS or DIVIDENDS, but they trade the CHART. Some are DAY TRADERS. Some are SCALPERS. Some are looking for LOW LIQUDITY to trade and there are other strategies of different 22 AI FUNDS.
Also, LIQUIDITY or STOCK BALANCE of AI FUNDS also effect their tradings. If the market is full of STOCKS in their pockets, what happens if a GOOD NEWS comes? No movement right? Even, some will sell to the fresh buyers. Like real markets. Or, does an OVERSOLD MARKET have much more selling pressure with BAD NEWS? Not much. Right?
AI STRATEGIES on a REAL ORDER BOOK with REAL TRANSACTIONS create a very realistic simulation. A REAL EXCHANGE working on your computer.
FUNEX has a very REAL feeling. It is because of the core game mechanics. Only ALGORITMIC parts of the game are; NEWS generation with DIVIDEND effects and AI DECISIONS.
If you expect to make money by just buying the highest dividend or good news, FUNEX may have surprises for you. Because, AI FUNDS are all PROFIT MINDED and are ready to crash your positions. They hate loosing money. This is not your grandmothers easy any stock market simulation.
FUNEX is a DEMAND/SUPPLY game, affected by NEWS and DIVIDENDS; but also, TECHNICAL ANALYSIS and INTRADAY TREND. So, CHAOS is big like real markets. There is no guaranteed strategy to make money. And, any working strategy, may not work as the game evolves. Like real markets.
Why arent't there STARTING CASH options for; EASY, NORMAL, HARD; level optimisation?
Markets are different for different sizes of cash. Like in the real life, you have a minimum cash to trade, which has almost no effect in prices. At the same time, you have no liquidity problem. You BUY or SELL what you want, as your order sizes are small. Market provides you, what you want.
But, as if you grow your money, like 10X, you will see that you will have effect on prices; at the same time, it will be harder to BUY or SELL your positions. Because, in FUNEX; if you are going to BUY, there should be enough SELLERS. Or vice versa. (Or, you drive prices to BUY or SELL what you want. But be careful, driving the price generally results with loss. AI FUNDS in FUNEX are not fools. They will take advantage of the opportunity.)
If you make 100X of your starting cash, congratulations! But now, you have to be a MARKET MAKER in order to BUY or SELL. Because, LIQUIDITY won't be enough for you. (In other simulations, you send an order as big as %10 market cap of a stock and it is instantly filled without changing the price. In FUNEX, if you drive the prices, sellers may not sell and wait for you to drive prices more.)
As your cash grows, now you are the MARKET MAKER or even the BIG BOSS of the market. And things really get harder as you grow.
Why do you think they always drive stock markets to balloon levels in real life? Because, BIG MONEY has LIQUIDITY problems. In FUNEX, you will also feel that liquidity problem as your portfolio grows..
Basicly, in the beginning, you are in EASY LEVEL, because your CASH is low.
As your CASH is 10X, now you can consider that it is NORMAL LEVEL as your CASH is medium.
If your CASH is 100X, it is the HARD LEVEL - which you may enjoy first - as you drive prices very easy - but then you may crash your computer; as you may easily loose money. (Please don't harm your computer. Just be calm and try to trade better.)
Why does FUNEX looks simple?
Actually, it is not simple. We could have developed a very detailed game without a real market mechanism. And it would be like other games. Instead, we developed something real. Up to 40.000 strategy checks every minute, is something really detailed actually.
But, we will develop this game every year and we will publish more detailed versions. As of course - we won't use ALGORITMIC PRICING - it needs very long time to optimise the new markets. (Like Funex 2, Funex 3...etc. But, older games won't be absolute. Because, we will suggest every new player to start with the first game. Because, Funex is not just a game, it is also a TRAINING SIMULATOR.)
What we plan is, to create the FOOTBALL MANAGER of STOCK MARKET SIMULATION GAMES.
Why doesn't FUNEX have more STOCKS or AI FUNDS?
Currently, we are talking about 20.000 strategy checks per minute. It makes, including the break, close to 2.000.000 checks per hour. In stead of increasing the STOCKS and AI FUNDS number, we are actually focused on additional details for the game. As different markets in future versions come, we may see 1.000.000 strategy checks per minute. Of course, there will be more AI FUNDS. But, we plan to hold STOCK numbers low. Think about, a future version checks 1.000.000 times per minute and then we decide to make it 1000 stocks? You will need a super computer. (With an Algoritmic price mechanism, it is possible. But, with REAL ORDER MATCHING system, it needs very strong computers.)
Also, as we test the game, even checking 22 STOCKS is not an easy job. Because, FUNEX is a very fast game. So, you won't feel like needing more stocks.
We tried to hold everything simple in order to use the processor efficiently. In such detailed simulations, optimisation is very important. And for future versions, its a safe base.
How long has FUNEX been tested?
We have been testing the game more than 100 playing hours. We created a game to enjoy. So, we also continuously play it. Current version is completely bug free and last version. But, if a problem occurs, we will update it.
FUNEX is for which gamers?
Actually, this game has a great EDUCATIONAL VALUE. If you have children interested in with financial markets, teach them to play FUNEX. User interface is easy for even a children. This will be first step to be a good TRADER. And, as the future versions evolve, you will teach more.
Even if you are an adult or even if you are a market professional, you will still enjoy the game and it also has EDUCATIONAL VALUE for you too. We are market professionals and it even teachs us. (For example, we were mostly of MARKET ORDER guys in real life. After this game, we mostly send LIMITED ORDERS. This game changed our trading style.)

FUNEX was designed by ARIEL BURAK KAPLAN. He is a/an; economist, stock market expert, technical analyst, political analyst and a life time gamer. This game is work of a real stock market expert. He has an experience of more than 30 years in financial markets.
FUNEX was designed in TURKEY. Which is probably the WILDEST market in the world with continuous CRISIS and KILLER VOLATILITY. So, CRISIS is our life. And our EXCHANGE is the HARDEST one. We are not from CHILDRENS PARK. We are from WILD LIFE.
Do you have any plans for more games other than FUNEX?
Yes! Sales volume will determine our time allocation for new games. We have more than 100+ game ideas. So, any game you buy, will create time for us to build new games. And, all of them will have new and unseen game mechanics.
