Kira the Fox: Crystals of Harmony is an action adventure indie game for PC in which players control a fox named Kira on a quest to recover ten stolen Crystals of Harmony across ten distinct worlds.
Gameplay
Kira gains speed through precise movement rather than starting fast by default. Clean chains of bounces between enemies without landing on the ground, maintained downhill momentum, and well timed releases from the grapple increase her pace progressively until the Harmony gauge fills and she enters Super Kira form. The grapple attaches to any crystal surface, allowing swings that preserve velocity when released at the right moment. Golden crystals collected along the way feed a talent tree called the Roots, where players allocate upgrades to shape Kira's abilities over time. Boss encounters draw power from the stolen crystals, ranging from smaller foes like a beetle to massive screen filling colossi. Each of the ten worlds introduces its own environmental rules and hidden elements alongside its boss fight.
Game Modes
Levels support three star ratings based on performance and include time trials that let players race against their own recorded ghost. Harmonic Rush serves as a rhythm focused bonus mode where striking crystals in time with the music extends a bridge and rewards precise timing. Every world contains one secret level to discover. Outfits unlock through play, adding visual variety without altering core mechanics. The structure emphasizes single player progression through acts that combine platforming chains, combat bounces, and exploration.
Worlds and Progression
The story follows King Crystus, who arrived from the stars in a flying fortress and took the Crystals of Harmony, causing forests to fade and rivers to dry. Kira travels world by world to reclaim them, beginning with areas such as the Hills, Crystal Caves, and Frost Peaks. Each location layers new movement challenges onto the core speed and grapple systems while hiding collectibles that support the talent tree. The free demo covers the entire first world, delivering four acts, one boss encounter, and its secret level for players to try before the full release.
Development and Availability
A single developer based in Quebec created all code, levels, bosses, and music over two years. The project remains in a pre launch state with the first world demo freely available. Adding the game to a wishlist provides notification when the full version launches on PC.
Is It Worth Playing?
Players who enjoy momentum based platforming and chaining mechanics will find the speed system and grapple timing rewarding, especially when combined with the talent tree choices and rhythm elements in Harmonic Rush. The demo offers a complete first world experience with multiple acts, a boss, and a secret level, allowing direct assessment of the movement and progression loop. Those drawn to solo developed indie adventures that reward clean execution over lengthy campaigns may appreciate the focused design and upcoming full release across ten worlds.
