Battles play out simultaneously in a series of rounds, with careful positioning and planning the key to victory. But battle is also chaotic, and you never quite know which of your reinforcements will show up next. Stay on your toes and adapt to the ever-shifting battlefield.
The kingdom changes every time Jairm marches onward, giving you a chance to choose which path your forge ahead on. Will you try to avoid battle and count on your luck and skill to face the challenges ahead, or will you meet the enemy head on to gather experience and glory?
Visit villages under the Tyrant King's cruel thumb, gathering volunteers eager to join the fight, or hiring mercenaries who are happy to join for some coin. And if you can keep your troops alive, they'll gain valuable experience to allow them to upgrade to new types with even more powerful abilities.
Tactical Puzzle Battles: Battles take place on a split battlefield, player and enemy forces facing off. Each round is turn-based, with both sides acting simultaneously when the player is ready. Shift your units to take advantage of their abilities, as well as exploit weaknesses in the enemy lines. But make sure to cover your leader - the enemy will always be looking to take him down and end your little rebellion.
Path of Destiny: As Jairm gains experience as a leader, choose how he grows. Perhaps he wants to overwhelm his enemies with numbers, or toughen himself to withstand more punishment, or focus on keeping his troops alive and kicking for longer.
Build Your Army: As Jairm's glory grows, he'll attract more and more types of units to his cause. Some are eager to volunteer, others might arrive as mercenaries willing to fight for a few coins. Either way, shape your army the way you want to fit your strategy. Whether it's a wall of stout-shielded fighters guarding your front, or speedy cavalry breaking through enemy lines, there are plenty of options to choose from.
